BERLIN, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) — The International Motor Show (IAA) Transportation 2024 opened Tuesday in Hannover, Germany, aiming to advance climate neutrality in logistics and transportation through innovative transport systems.
The fair, which will run until Sunday, brings together major players in the commercial vehicle industry, including Bosch, Daimler Trucks, CATL, and SAIC MAXUS, to discuss sustainable transport and logistics with a focus on carbon neutrality.
Organizers described the fair as “the world’s largest platform for transport and logistics,” noting that it has relaunched with a new, innovative format.
The fair, previously known as IAA Commercial Vehicles, covers the full spectrum of transport and logistics solutions, with a continued emphasis on both light and heavy commercial vehicles.
Official data shows over 1,700 companies from Germany, China, India, and other countries are registered to attend the six-day event this year. International exhibitors make up 73 percent of participants, including 464 from China.
During the fair, exhibitors will showcase the latest technologies and discuss topics such as transportation, commercial vehicle infrastructure and charging facilities development.
This year’s exhibition features a range of commercial vehicles, including buses, tanker trucks, garbage collectors, and logistics vehicles. Test-driving activities have been organized to showcase vehicle performance and allow exhibitors to demonstrate product highlights more effectively.
At the same time, the exhibition has a start-up exhibition area to help start-ups understand the development trend of the industry and establish connections with the industry’s leading technology providers and suppliers.
In addition, this year’s exhibition has a “China Day,” when Chinese enterprises are invited to elaborate on the current market situation and future development of China’s commercial vehicle field to exhibitors. It provides a platform for Chinese exhibitors to contact and cooperate with other manufacturers.
“As the most international commercial vehicle exhibition in history, all exhibitors will work together on transportation and logistics under global climate governance. Healthy commercial competition will promote the research and development of more new products and bring new vitality to the industry,” said Jurgen Mindel, managing director of German Association of the Automotive Industry, the organizer of IAA Transportation 2024 trade fair. ■
